Having played since the age of 13, he won almost every B-grade solo event in the country before giving away piping in favour of heavy rock guitar.

But in 1998 he dusted off his pipes again and has never looked back.

2002 saw Derek take over the position as Pipe Major, Derek is a proficient piper with a penchant for pace and flare. Derek's natural musical ability and leadership will take the band through the upcoming 2002-2003 contest season.

In past shows he has amazed with his fast fingerwork and bending notes.

He is best known for his trademark Braveheart role.
